24 Volt Battery Olde New Orleans Block Ice Shaver is one of the most powerful ice shavers in the world and operates on two 12 Volt batteries. In New Orleans you might hear people call this a Snowball (or Sno-Ball) machine. The large three-blade shaver head planes snow off of the large block of ice and delivers it directly into the catch basin or Shaved Ice cup. Shipped complete with the snow catch basin and Sno-Kone dipper. Features powerful Brute Force ¾ HP motor and a V-belt pulley that reduces the motor speed down to about 350 RPMs. The battery version of The Olde New Orleans Sno-Ball machine is supplied with 10 gauge battery cables. Terminal connections and (2) 12 Volt batteries not provided.
To operate The Olde New Orleans Block Ice Shaver, place a 6 – 12 pound block of clear ice into the block ice compartment. (The front door has a safety switch to protect the operator until the cast aluminum door is safely locked into the closed position). The heavy-duty lever on the left hand side allows the operator to ratchet the handle to apply pressure. The more pressure applied – the coarser the ice - and lighter pressure provides a finer snow.
If you are freezing your own block ice for the Olde New Orleans Block Ice Shaver, keep a couple of things in mind. We highly recommend using our plastic liners, # 1488 or your freezing ability will be severely limited by the number of acutal molds, # 1487 you have. Additionally freeze the blocks slowly at about 10 degrees above zero. Trying to force the freezing process by using extremely cold temperatures will only create low quality ice blocks with internal flaws that will shatter as soon as you start to shave them. Item numbers # 1488 and # 1487 are NOT included and must be ordered separately.
